Oakdale Rabbits

The Rabbits section of Oakdale Golf Club is open to all male golfers holding a World Handicap System handicap index of 15.0 or higher.  It is intended to provide friendly, competitive golf for higher handicap players as well as opportunities to socialise with other Rabbits.

All interested members may join the Rabbits at the annual 'Get Together' held each year at the start of the season by paying the nominal membership fee of £5. The 'Get Together' is also the first competition of the season and is followed by a meal and refreshments for those interested.

A member without a competition handicap may be eligible to join, but will not be able to compete in Rabbits competitions or matches until an appropriate handicap index has been obtained. Should a Rabbits member’s handicap index fall below 15.0 during the year he will be allowed to compete in Rabbits competitions (internal) and inter club 'friendly' matches for the remainder of that season, playing off his new handicap.

During the year the Rabbits organise a number of competitions, played in various formats, as well as 'friendly' matches, both home and away, against other local clubs. These matches are usually spirited affairs, played in the best traditions of golf and followed by a meal and good company at the host club. Details of the competitions and matches can be found in the Rabbits section of the website.

The Rabbits section is organised along the lines of the Golf Club itself with a President, Captain, Vice Captain and a Committee, all of whom are elected by the Rabbits membership at the Annual General Meeting. All Rabbits members are encouraged to participate and contribute to the running of the section.

In addition to the golfing activities, the Rabbits hold various social events, including a very popular Race Night which is the section’s social highlight of the year.

Details of all activities may be found in the Rabbits section of the website.
